across的意思有穿过，扫过，掠过这么一层含义，在这里是指charlie的眼神扫过厨房，charlie和妻子是位置上对过，有一个过程性，去掉across就感觉不到这个过程了，而只是有charlie站在厨房里
不过个人感觉across from 更多见一些

from across 是对过的意思 from 是可以去掉的

不可以去掉from

因为是从(from)台子across 通过台子看过去的.
